  • Hours away until I turn my computer off and load it into my car and proceed to Maryland.  3rd cross country trip, but this one is on my own… a nice personal challenge to just keep focused and relaxed the entire drive until I see that fateful sign: MARYLAND WELCOMES YOU!

I definitely feel as though I have grown alot since I have been out here.  Lemme touch on some of the highlights of this little adventure out here:

-had a total of 4 roommates in 2 years… only talking to 1 of them.
-able to drive home every day along the 5 and witnessed some of the best sunsets I have ever witnessed
-managed to leave San Diego with about the same amount of money I came in with
-leaving with some solid purchases: ergonomical keyboard, brand new computer, some new clothes ,
    -love swimming in the ocean
-renewed my love for a nice long run
-been hit on countless of times in Hillcrest…. by men
-really enjoy going to clubs, like I have feel I have to go clubbing every other weekend now
-realized that there is no place like Chu’s Cafe in Georgetown
-I love beef jerky, ramen, vienna sausage, spam, and bananas
-some girls are hot and just purely nice to look at… doesnt mean that they are nice
-I really love fantasy football and reality shows
-going to predominantly asian clubs definitely makes me feel taller
-there are many guys that dont know how to dance, and surprisingly there are many girls that dont know how to freak
-San Diego Chargers suck… Padres are good…
-San Diego is very easy to drive around, except they have some weird traffic laws like “No turn on Red”
-I rarely see cops and no one ever gets stopped for speeding tickets… where is CHIPS
-It is ALWAYS beautiful out here… overcaste in the morning always clearing up to perfect days
    -San Diegans get cold easily.
-I dig the Hawaiian themes here, like Friday Hawaiian shirt days and the restaurants that serve Spam musabi (Da Kine’s)
-People like surfing during their lunch break and just before work and after work, and just all the time
-Cycling is big here, but yet so is over the line and horseshoes
-there are alot of yummy restaurants here in San Diego… definitely going to miss the mexican fooooood
    -Comic Con is a MUST
-Not alot of people travel out of California… met alot of people that haven’t even left the state aside to go to Vegas
-random Vegas trips are great… and yes, you will always lose money in Vegas

Again, no one should take any of this stuff personally, just one east coasters thoughts on San Diego…

  • what a whirlwind my last day at work was… like I cant remember a day going by any faster… I just remember pigging out from the food that one of my coworkers made for me (chicken/egg/onion/sandwhich) with yummy seedless grapes.  Then I trained someone on some of the things I do around the office while also working on my big going away letter to everyone.  Then a nice long mexican food lunch at Fidels in Delmar with some coworkers, then get back in time for more food and goodies at the office “open house and say good bye to Vince” social… so then I had my nice long exit interview where I basically could just air some things out that I had only aired out to my coworkers..  Then last minute goodbyes and packing up my stuff from my desk… tear tear tear..

Then after work FUN! Again more Mexican food into the system with margaritas as chasers.. lots of pics to be posted real sooooon!  some mischief to be had between coworkers, but no mischief involving me  :(

Lift off from San Diego late Tuesday night!  stop by anytime to say bye!

  • So somemore preparations and goodbyes makes this week definitely pretty tough.  Seems like everything is sorta revolving around my coworkers and my roommate.  My coworkers are throwing me a Mexican food and bowling extravaganza on Friday, this is getting to be such a big thing I am carpooling it into work at 6:30AM on Friday as they all plan on having me pretty drunk during lunch and then again after work.

Also decided to pick up the unabridged audio edition of The Da Vinci Code.  Yes, I know I should just read the book, but I think this will definitely be the perfect “on the road” CD.  It was strange, the abridged edition was only 6 hours and the unabridged is 16 hours!!!  That is a whole lot of the book getting taken out, I almost feel cheated.  So ya, that will be my companion during the extra long stretches of highway.

In other news, my godson celebrated his 1st birthday this week!  YAY!  Cant wait til I get to sink my teeth into him next month!  (yes, I am a biter)

  • So I had a relaxed weekend, just counting down the days til I say goodbye to San Diego and start my trek cross country once again… Getting alot of advice from people as to when to drive, what I should be doing this week to prepare, what kinda stuff I need to do for my car, where I should stop, how I should pack my car, etc…  Definitely going to be a tough trip esp. on my own.  I figure to go to Barnes & Noble to get some audio books to keep me company.  I think I will pull over a few times to catch a little snooze, but I just feel like I will be a prime carjacking victim if I dont play my cards right.  I think I want to do the bulk of my driving at night time since I tend to get in my own little zone while driving at night as opposed to during the day. I kinda prefer the silence of the night, though I have to make sure I have enough windshield washer fluid because there were definitely alot of bugs that love to splatter themselves on my windshield while driving through Kansas… but at least I dont have to deal with the boiling heat.  I remember when I drove from Maryland to San Diego 2 years ago we ran into some heavy hail, dense fog in the Grand Canyon, and I had some bird decide to end its life by flying into my car.  So hopefully I will have less stories on this trip .

This is gonna be a crazy week for me with a few coworker functions and then all culminating to my last weekend here in SD.  I dont think I want to do the E Street thing this weekend, so we shall see what winds up happening… maybe people can come over the apartment or some coffee..

  • The Apprentice…  So I love how this show just makes me miss moving back home more and more, hehehe… I cant wait to be around uptight pinheads again.  I coulda sworn that Andy guy went to my high school and my friends were acquainted with him since they were all in the same upper level classes, so I will have to check my peeps so I can be a little bit more amused with his idiotic remarks like, “she cant underestimate me, I am a nationally ranked debator”, of course his youthfulness and immaturity just scream out LOSER.  Definitely some attractive ladies, ok maybe just the asian gal… I think the first apprentice had more attractive ladies, but we shall see… also kinda digging the lady who came in the green suit in the beginning love women with short hair…

ok, that is just my shpeel on this Thursday evening…

  • Haven’t been able to eat much lately… appetite and sleep have gone out the window as the whole stress of moving has replaced those two vessels in need in my body… I feel like I am already prepping myself for the long drive ahead of me. About 12 days before I bid adieu to lovely and beautiful San Diego just in time for the east coast Fall.  Been trying to sell my furniture to my coworkers and making some good money, hopefully they actually decide to push thru with the purchase.  It has definitely started to get harder at work having those last conversations with some of your coworkers and seeing the look of sadness in their eyes and how some of my jokes just are not carrying as much anymore with the thought I may never see most of them again…  I guess all that will sort of just get washed away when I see my family and friends back home’s faces again, and just get readjusted to life back in Maryland again.

  • My inner woman came out this weekend as I decided to go check out VANITY FAIR with Reese Witherspoon.    I was definitely pleasantly surprised and entertained of this movie adaptation of a book I was too terrified to even consider reading, of course I am not much of a reader to begin with so ya… good chick flick or period piece depending on how you want to look at it… definitely wish there were more nudity tho…

So in an effort to re-masculinize myself I went to see Zatoichi: The Blind Swordsman...  Definitely a good movie, with quite an insane dance number at the end.  I like the use of computer graphics for the “cutting” sequences..

I recommend both movies if you are looking to get re-acquainted with your gender
